in Mansfield, central Victoria.

These birds are very common and considered a bit of a pest ( they chew out timber window frames with enthusiasm.

These shots are with the 16-85 VR DX lens - 85mm, f9 and 1/400.  Casting a critical eye on these shots i think the bokeh from the lens is not that good at all and detracts from the photos.

it would be good if i had the 105mm 2.8 at the time to compare results - as it happens both shots were cropped down to the equivalent of what the 105 would have taken.

about to take flight. my wife was creeping up on the critter while i was framing the shot.
