Sony A7 and A7r users - why not support a fix for lossy compression?

You have nothing to lose from it other than an optional lower FPS. Neither of these cameras are low ISO or 'sports' cameras but have a lot of possibility for landscape and portraits.

Sony clearly rushed this camera to market with a faulty algorithm and compression. More and more users are seeing the presence of banding, aliases, artifacts, blotching, magenta pixels and other tonal transition issues.

The A7r will not produce a RAW image greater than 37.4mb - the Nikon 800 can and does produce lossless 14 bit files that can be up to 63mp.

Large memory cards are inexpensive as are storage devices, computer processing and video cards for these large files.

You may not see the difference today but it will become apparent when you have 4k and above displays in the future and your prized photos look like bad satellite television.

Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Leica all deliver lossless files as a default or as an option. Why do so many Sony users insist on defending Sony and not get the Image Quality they paid for?

It won't hurt to have it as an option.

As a long time Sony user I thought AATRAC (minidisc) compression was far superior to MP3 which ended up winning. Sony knows how to do this right. But if so many people are willing to accept less I'll be willing to switch to the first camera that brings about FF sensor, a Sony like EVF solution and true lossless compression with the ability to use Zeiss ZF.2 lenses with or without an adapter.
