Looking for a bargain
Dec 29, 2013

Quick background info: Level 1 photographer (out of 100). Been using p&s (TZ5) for over 5 years. Looking to move a step up. Tried entry level bridge (LZ30). Cheap, plasticy, crappy focus. Decided to move a few steps up. Narrowed it down to FZ200 or SX50.

I'm not sure if the latest and greatest is necessary at this stage. Also I want to keep the cost super low because of other hobbies (like motorcycling) that are higher up in priority.

So I went on Amazon and Ebay and did a quick search for superzoom cameras under $250. There are a few cameras that meet my requirements (min 25-600mm, viewfinder, articulated lcd). However I won't have any clue whether the actual IQ, low light capability, af speed, etc etc are anywhere decent. (For eg Fuji S4000 - is that a good camera or just another LZ30?)

I'm more than happy to get a model which is 2-3 years old as long as it is a good camera. I figured that way I can get a good camera for a good price.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

PS At the end of the day, if no such camera exists, I'll just get a FZ200 or SX50. But I figured it's worth a try first.
