Shooting D800 at less than native resolution
Dec 28, 2013

Hi guys   I'm about to start a long term recordation project for the Oregon historical society.  Lots of general architecture, construction sites, industrial areas, public spaces, interiors, etc.   have pretty much decided on a D800 with 18-35mm.

they do not seem to want crazy large image file sizes, And if I shoot max res on the D800 I will wind up with very large tif files after basic processing.   So, I am wondering about perhaps shooting the 800 at a lower resolution -  the 5520 x 3680 (20.3mb).   Then converting to std 8-bit tifs for submital - file sizes around 45mb per image.

Any problems with this approach?  Suggestions?  Thanks.
