Li-Ion, AA Batts and equipment longevity?
Dec 28, 2013

I have been considering equipment longevity as I don't want to keep buying stuff only to discard them 3 years later. How long do equipment last? I would prefer something which accepts 2 different types of batteries like AAs and Lithium batteries.

Lithium batteries are manufacturer dependent. I have a Canon G7 and G9 and Canon has ended producing the spare parts long ago. Would have been great if these equipment could have alternative battery sources. Li-ion batteries typically lasts 2 - 3 years max.

Memory cards are erasable so that's less of an issue than batteries.

What are your thoughts?

Happy New Year.
