Is there an equivalent to the Mach Loop in the US to see ("shoot") low flying fighter jets?

After taking some pictures at a Formula 1 race in Italy this summer I thought it would be fun to take pictures of ("shoot" doesn't sound right in this context somehow) low flying fighter jets in action.

I was once at the Mach Loop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mach_Loop) in Britain and there it looked like you could almost touch the planes. The Brits even publish their practice schedule on the web.

I live in LA now and I wonder if there is a similar area in the US. hope there is something out in the desert in California, Nevada or Arizona.

Does anybody know of a similar area where you can see jets predictably? I
