for a relatively inexpensive wide angle lens that gives pretty good results I will continue to suggest the Minolta MD 24 mm 2.8.  I have both the 49mm and 55 mm filter receiver versions and I see little difference between the two albeit the 55 mm version is touted to be a bit better.

I shot this today in Forest, Va with the 49 mm version while visiting my daughter.  It was an awful day to take photos, gray, overcast, and rainy most of the day.

This is handheld, 400 ISO, f8 at 1/40 shot in full manual mode, center focus on frame of swing set nearest the camera.  A camera generated jpeg with a touch of clarity added in LR5.
