Where do you find that? While it's hard to compare lenses directly, mainly because the * and Ltd's are sometimes 'odd' focal lengths and generally value small size over maximum aperture, there are some (close) comparisons. Like; (prices from B+H)

Canon EF 300mm f/4.0 IS USM $ 1,450,

Pentax DA* 300mm f/4.0 ED (IF) SDM $ 1,400

Canon 50mm f/1.2L USM $ 1,600

Pentax DA* 55mm f/1.4 SDM $ 800 (1/2 stop slower, 1/2 price)

Canon 85mm f/1.2II USM $ 2,200

Pentax FA Ltd 77mm f/1.8 $ 1,050. (1/2 stop slower, 1/2 price)

Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM $ 1,050

Pentax D-FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR $ 850 (not a * or Ltd, still considered a very good 100mm macro)

And one example of a higher Pentax price;

Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM $ 820

Pentax DA* 200mm f/2.8ED (IF) SDM $ 1,200 (* lenses are W/R)

As far as I know, the Ltd 35mm f/2.8 Macro @ $ 750, FA 43mm f/1.9 @ $750, DA 40mm f/2.8@ $350, DA 70mm f/2.4 @ $750, DA 21mm f/3.2 @ $750 and 15mm f/f/4 ED AL HD @ $ 700 have no direct counterparts to Canon or Nikon, particularly because of the smaller size, lower max aperture, (mostly) metal construction and some odd focal lengths.

That hoary canard about the higher prices of Pentax premimum lenses just doesn't hold water. And paying $1,000 for 1/2 stop of lens speed isn't exactly cost-effective for most shooters, either.

JMO, YMMV

Pentax DA* 55mm f/1.4 SDM $ 800 (1/2 stop slower, 1/2 price)

- This used to be ~500-600$ compare it to 50 1.4 competitors not 1.2

Pentax FA Ltd 77mm f/1.8 $ 1,050. (1/2 stop slower, 1/2 price)

- Same, used to be ~500-600$, compare it to 85 1.8 competitors

Pentax D-FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR $ 850 (not a * or Ltd, still considered a very good 100mm macro)

- Nikon 105 VR is ~$750, 3rd party gear are ~500-600$ (sigma 105 HSM OS, Tamron 90 VC). I think Canon's non L macro is ~$500

Pentax DA* 300mm f/4.0 ED (IF) SDM $ 1,400

- Fair comparison with Canon's, though Pentax should be a tad cheaper considering we have the SR in body

Of course Pentax has some decently priced gems as well but since the lens does not have built in IS/VR/SR/OS they should not charge extra premium just because it's competitors are. That makes having IBSR advantage a moot point
