A57 vs A58 vs A77 at 6400 ISO
Dec 22, 2013

While waiting for the hopefully soon to be released new A-mount cameras I decided to make a quick comparison of the high ISO jpeg quality of the most recent A-mount cameras using Imaging Resources sample photos.

When looking at these samples, it sure is promising to notice, that the most recent camera (the A58) is doing quite a good job with the Sony's newest jpeg algorhythms when preserving the most amount of detail and still removing noise quite nicely. It sure is interesting to see how much better the upcoming cameras are handling this.

Look how blotchy and mushy the jpeg from the oldest A77 is compared to the other two? Once the detail is gone, you can't get it back, even how much you would downsample or sharpen it. If you are using your cameras to shoot for example indoor sports in less than perfect lighting, you know how important it is to have a camera that has decent high ISO noise levels without loosing too much details.
