Using manual exposure with strobes on EVF cameras
Dec 19, 2013

When using my E410 in an underwater housing , on occasion I would use  the maximum sync speed along with a stopped down aperture (f11) in order to allow the background to go black and rely on strobes alone to expose the foreground.... usually on macro subjects.

When I tried this with my  Canon G1x it was impossible. I was unable to compose on the LCD since it was completely dark at the selected exposure.

On the EM1 or EM5 would the EVF also go dark to reflect the what the selected exposure does to the overall light of the scene ? Is there a way to work around this if it does?
