The Magnificent Three!

Just what you all have been waiting for. I have crowned the best 3 Nikon DSLRs. ALL three of these are worth owning because they each bring something special to the table.

In no particular order....

Nikon D800/D800E - Without a doubt this is a camera that easily exceeds the needs of most of the people who buy it. Great at ALMOST everything, the D800 is the king of resolution while being a strong runner-up in virtually every other area outside of FPS. With a grip and in DX mode, the D800 will STILL best the D700 IQ and churn along at a respectable 6 FPS, just 2 FPS shy of the D700. The D800 adds BEST magnificent resolution to your kit!

Nikon Df - Sure, you knew it was coming! But the Df is the king of low light. Those who shoot the D4 know why and where it bests the D800 and that's enough for many. It takes an improved D4 sensor and packs it into the smallest lightest FX camera from Nikon thus far. Excellent AF along with small files and a low-profile style, this is a terrific body for street work or candids. You also get what is arguably the most entertaining interface from any DSLR to date. The Df adds BEST magnificent low-light shooting ability in the smallest body to your kit!

Nikon D4 - Here's the D4 sensor, just a hair behind the Df, but with blistering speed, full size body and virtually every feature required to capture the moment. Unlike the Df, this is a fully realized professional tool. It may not lead in IQ at low ISO, but the overall design is aimed at getting the shot with very good IQ potential retained. If you can deal with the size and weight, wow! The D4 adds BEST magnificent speed and low light shooting to your kit!

That's it! Creating a D800/Df or D800/D4 combo makes the most sense for a lot of shooters and some of my friends are shooting all three! The Magnificent Three along with the Holy Trinity and some good primes...the only thing standing between you an great shots is YOU!

Cheers,

Robert
