Everyone, just keep in mind this is essentially an in-camera crop of JPEGs. So, 1) you lose some pixels, though if you were going to crop it square anyhow, it is same-same-like-like, and 2) the RAWs will still be 3:2, so don't be surprised when you open them!

I often crop to square ("guesstimating" through the evf) with my V1 and can still easily print an 18x18 print; and the V1 sensor is much smaller than the Fuji, so I don't worry too much about the lost pixels. 

I also like to shoot in 16:9. I call it the "poor man's" panoramic format! The new Sony RX10 has the 1:1 and 16:9 format so hopefully it may appear in a new V3.....  Cheers
