I am going to try it at home, but my 18-month-old toddler in addition to moving non-stop very fast in every direction, also has a tendency to turn his head back on me when he sees me with a camera (which is most of the time) just to screw with me. And then FD usually loses him.

You're right, toddlers move in every which way and they can turn on the dime very quickly.  In comparison, even though a bird in flight is moving faster than a moving toddler, but the bird cannot turn around 180 degrees in an instance.  From the distance away, you can sometimes predict where the bird is going to.  This is much different than tracking the movement of a toddler.
