I've scanned a mountain of my dad's slides from the 60's....and they look great. Digital shots from 15 years ago look like crap. Everything changes. I use less and less 35mm film nowadays and more and more 4x5.

I recently scanned some 120 film and I still prefer the look of film grain over digital noise.

I've always felt digital noise is ugly, whereas film grain is part of the beauty

Absolutely.  Film grain, done right, is a distinct part of an image that I enjoy.  There is no part of digital noise that I enjoy.  And 99% of the comments where I read that X camera of choice has noise like film, make me smile and laugh.
