I have a checklist - mostly mental now - for packing the van for for photo trips. Actually two -- one for outdoor work and one for indoor with lighting and backdrops.

EDIT: These is also a "day before" list with things like charging batteries and checking memory cards.

I need to get back to the habit of making a "shot list" for photo sessions, especially when photographing people. It's easy for me to get distracted and spend too long on one idea or miss a critical setup. On these, whether my list is written or mental, I'm always looking for a balance between being sure to cover the required setups and being open to creative possibilities.

I agree, Gato.  My current focus is birds in flight.   So want my check list (or reminder sheet) for that.  But at the same time don't want to miss a great shot at my feet of a gator eating a turtle, either.
