Nikon Entry Level
Nov 27, 2013

Hi. The local camera store was not particularly useful in helping me choose a camera. I am wondering is the practical benefit of a Nikon D5200 over a D3200? I'm coming from a Nikon D40X.

I have an 18-200mm lens and an SB-900 speedlight already so I'd like to stay with Nikon, and add a 50mm prime.

I shoot lots of full body portrait indoors, outdoor water sports, wild life, and scenery.

It seems like the major difference is auto focus and video. What is the practical difference? Will I really notice the extra focus points? Is the focus speed similar?

Are there other notable performance benefits I may have missed?

If this camera is worth the $200 extra ($400 to $600) I will gladly pay it, if they are benefits I wont really notice then I'd rather put the extra towards lenses.
