I think that this is normal. This is how camera reacts on lighting conditions. If you have doubts, you can always set the camera to A or M and do extra tests.

Thanks, it happens with any mode, it depends on how strong the ambient light is when powering on the camera, with both the 22mm and the 18-55. I think this is something firmware related. It is only strange to me that it's based on the light WHEN you power on the camera, not the ambient light it senses while you use it.
