Why not make the EOS M II a RAW video centric small camera ?
Nov 22, 2013

Of course with great still capability but with the seemingly great acceptance of the Black Magic Pocket CC, and its recent wonderful raw capability, the EOS M would be a great 'size' competitor and with video with RAW capability, super wonderful FAST AF is not the 'gotta' requirement stills ppl desire, no DP sensor required.

Yes I know it might would eat into 5DII/III and Canon's pro video cams, but it would ignite the EOS M into the hearts of both the stills (better AF needed here) and the video crowd. But Canon could keep it a Full HD raw video cam versus a Full 4k video cam, to 'cripple' it for marketing purposes protecting the higher lines.

Just a thought!

BTW, if you dont follow EOS M in the magic lantern world, it is the SD card slot that keeps it from getting full HD raw, the buffer seems adequate, there is NOT the bandwidth that the 5DIII (CF) and other cams have (GH3/BMP/BMCC/RED), ppl are able to get around 70 mega BYTE ps output (70 mBps), but not the 100+ mBps needed for full HD (5DIII) or much more for 4k video which is the next hurdle.

Currently ONLY 720p RAW can be had from EOS M ML, sadly !!

There are MANY reasons RAW is necessary for pro quality video, research this yourself.
