Ron, we simply are not talking about the same thing I don't think. In Lightroom you cannot even set PPI for your images (except when exporting copies). I'm not talking about printer resolution. Of course it is necessary to set the printing resolution appropriately. I'm talking about, in Photoshop particularly, setting the resolution of the file. Let's go back to my 4 x 6" (1200 x 1800 pixel) image. In Photoshop, if I don't choose to resample the image in the size dialog, no matter what I put in the resolution box the image will still be 1200 x 1800 pixels. It will still be a 4 x 6" print at 300 PPI. I'm not talking about printer resolution at all. And the basis for my statement is that if there are sufficient pixels in the image for the size print that you want the PPI setting in the FILE is meaningless. If you don't understand that concept then we have no reason to discuss this any further. So, please, take a moment to think through what I have written. If you can't grasp that concept then we have nothing more to discuss.
