There are many many reasons why mirror-less will supersede DSLRs - but there's one overriding reason which drives every manufacturer to look at mirror-less as the future for their camera lines.

They are simpler and cheaper to mass-produce

Absolutely.

That's because they have fewer moving parts, and less complex mechanics.

The only reason prices for mirror-less cameras are high today, is to cover for the R&D costs.

Manufacturing costs are lower, and overtime, prices of mirrorless cameras will drop to lower levels than even entry-level DSLRs.

They already have. Sony A3000 was released at $399 for a kit with basic zoom - no DSLR was ever released at anywhere close, even Rebels, even SL1. And it is $350 already. In 5 years A3500 (and everybody else with its competitors) will have 2.4Mpix viewfinder and OSPDAF faster and more precise than any DSLR/DSLT PDAF has ever been (because of lack of light split on the mirror and/or pentaprism and being in sensor plane), and if they manage global shutter finally (for which they should stop increasing resolution already!), then probably $200 in today's money with ISO as low as needed ("electronic ND" too if they decide to have it at low end) and shutter speed as high as needed.
