Sorry but lions are not endangered. I am not a fan of trophy hunting, but keeping the population in check is required to keep them out of human environments.

yup...  Not hunters.  Humans that have moved into lion territory and don't want them around.  Either the locals will shoot them or have hunters paying 10s of thousands come in and shoot them.  Either way with humans reducing the wilderness, you end up with fewer lions.  Has nothing to do with the trophy hunter. (not that I support trophy hunting because I don't)
