It must be a psychological effect concerning the noise, really. To be fair, you have to stop down just a little bit more than 1 stop. Do you have the fuji prime lenses with wide aperture ? If you want to go wider than 1.4 (or 2.1 in Full Frame), then I agree you can take photos with less noise but with more shallower dof.

If there was an advantage, it would come from the smaller sensors. They tend to be slighltly more efficient. But if you see the comparisons, they are in fact very very close.

Anyway, there is a reference now about this topic:

Let's say the perfection is rated 5.

A few years ago, I would rate APS-C: 3/5 and FF 4/5.

now APS-C: 4/5, FF:4.5/5.

The perceived difference is getting smaller. This is just a simplified vision but now, when I see some photos, I wonder where there is a margin in the IQ to improve the photo !!! It is close to the perfection, technically speaking.

I agree the answer differs with the requirements of each person.

I am using the Fuji 35/1.4 and 60/2.4 for comparison with a Canon 50/1.4 and 85/1.8.

The 60 is really slow, so compared wide-open wit the 85 wide open, is pretty sad, lol. But, it is not a fair test, either.

I do agree that the APS-C images are as close to the full-frame as your ratio, but I think we will have to agree to disagree on the noise. The Fuji images lose a lot of detail to graininess compared with the 6D in low light.
