Metz, Sigma and lots of lesser brands that have TTL flashes. the new hot shoe means virtually nothing.

Does this mean I can mount any TTL flash on A58 ?

NO, if you want TTL. The only flashes you can mount directly on the a58 which will support TTL are the Sony F20M, F43M and F60M.

You can get TTL from Metz, etc, provided the flash has the older Minolta/Sony iISO shoe, and you use the Sony ADP-MAA adapter. (But this excludes older 3rd party flashes made for Minolta film cameras - they have to support Sony digital cameras)

Panasonic, Olympus, Nikon, Canon, etc flashes are totally incompatible with Sony TTL. This is not only the shoe, it is also the electronic protocol which is totally different. Those units will only support fixed power manual flash use on your a58.
