Tomatoes or Potatoes - Olympus 12-50 vs Shutter-shock
Nov 15, 2013

I've been asked to check for shutter-shock using the Olympus 12-50 lens, so I took these with my E-M5 and 12-50. They were taken hand-held, holding the left hand under the lens. ISO 200, f/6.3, 1/60 sec. There is consistent vertical blur on all of them. None of them is overwhelmingly sharp, because the 12-50 @ 50 isn't. What we're looking for is consistent, additional vertical blurring.

1:1 crops from six samples.

1:1 crops from another spot on the same six samples.

Here are six more samples, this time with the left hand supporting the camera. I don't see anything resembling shutter-shock on any of them. One is blurrier than the others and my diagnosis for that one is operator error.
