You point is very valid.. a Zeiss for Nikon or Canon has a much larger potential in the second hand market if you ever decide to sell it.

fwiw, I wasn't just talking about the ability to sell it -- I was also thinking, what if other vendors make appealing bodies -- so, not just about resale (I'm more of a buy-and-hold kind of guy), but also about system-agnostic flexibility with "keeper" lenses.
