Is Pentax an inherently good system for sports? How about lens selection?

Yea, I have read that too. No doubt a quality lens. Since you have one can you check the accuracy of the AF points in the K-3?

Do you mean Select AF accuracy? Sorry, I almost never use it. I use Center Point & Recompose, Auto Select for BIF/Action, or MF. I have found AF-C and tracking excellent for BIF.

Yes, I just never had good luck recomposing. I much prefer the AF select. That way if the lens is sharp across the field you get perfect focus. Recomposing is really not a good way to shoot IMO. Shooting sports or birds you might try it! ( just a friendly suggestion ) I sent my K-5 in twice to have it fixed and it came back just as bad? Kinda frustrating. Have not tried the K-5 II so not sure if it was fixed or not.

Cheers, G
