Heres one way to think of it. Some years ago when I was shooting Fuji DSLRs I went to a local camera shop selling Canon. The owner asked if I had seen the (then) new D5. I couldn't believe the feel of that body in my hand, a totally different one from the Fuji's. made them feel like Dyana plasticams. I'm hoping the Df does that for me again.

As someone pointed out in another thread, while the dials themselves may be 'mechanical', they merely actuate digital encoding switches connected to the CPU, not anything actually mechanical.
