58mm f/1.4G bokeh

Last weekend in Central Park, I've put the new 58mm through its trial run during a number of client portrait sessions. The results, in my own opinion, are stunning. This lens is sharp for full body shots, wide open, in a way the 50 1.4 never was.

There is a certain quality to the bokeh, much similar to the 105/135 DC, in which the out-of-focus areas are further diffused... I can only suppose through the use of optics. But the focal length feels a bit longer than 58mm. Almost 70mm I'd say, though I haven't actually a real measurement of this.

Both front and rear focus are diffused with elegant creaminess.

Here are a few sneak peeks (all shot wide open at 1.4, on Nikon D4). NOTE: The skin has been smoothed on these, and WB/Exposure adjustments performed during RAW processing, but no other editing, certainly not to the background was performed:
