What intrigues me is the degree to which some people seem to derive a sense of worth from whether their preferred type of camera is surging or sagging in sales.

For the second time this week, I note that I can't remember the last time I saw a thread in the FF forums whose raison d'etre was to gloat over the sales figures of dSLRs vis-a-vis their mirrorless counterparts. If there was one, it sank quickly like a stone due to lack of interest.

m43 is a great system, and I'm sure there are a lot of shooters/posters here who are helpful and interesting, too. Unfortunately, you're forum is often represented in the "Top Threads" listing by a vocal few who are crippled with comical inferiority complexes.

That is because the people in those forums are secure in their choice. They don't need to constantly try to convince themselves of that by comparing their DXo numbers, sales figures, market share, etc. with those of other cameras.

I practically always start a thread on the first of every month to coincide with CIPA's monthly release of camera and lens shipments (I didnt last month). I generally post it in the 'open' forum given that it relates to 'all' cameras, however, I decided to post it in the M43 forum this month because the 'mirrorless' data was the salient feature of the release (or salient datum from the data?).

If you are going to discuss statistics it is useful if you remain objective and leave your subjective opinions aside. I can actually only think of one poster who has taken the 'told you so, mirrorless is great and DSLRs are dying' and in any case it is a mantra that he writes in 10 different threads a week. On the other hand the 'what is isnt being said but is meant' 'hidden agenda' 'raison d'etre' 'inferiority complex' posts are seeming to multiply and are becoming increasingly tedious. Writing about what you think other people are thinking or feeling is quite the antithesis of objectively discussing the best available data source for the industry.
