Meanwhile, IBS is just as good if not better on most other brands.

Based on what? My understanding is that IBS is equivalent to ILS for short focal lengths and inferior for long ones. Of course IBS is better than nothing when you use lenses without ILS.

You understanding is wrong, at least since Olympus introduced 5-axis IBIS. ILS simply cannot stabilize rotational movement (which even the lesser IBIS in Pentax does),

How many shots have you had that have needed correction for rotational movement?  I can imagine a shot taken from an aircraft doing a barrel roll might.  Or someone doing some kind of acrobatic manoeuvre on a skateboard (but he's more likely to be using a GoPro anyway).  What else?

and translational movement too in almost all cases (I think Canon released a single macro lens recently which attempts to do that - the only one in existence).

The difference is very obvious in handheld videos from Oly vs everybody else.

IBIS also has very interesting applications - like star following from Pentax. I guess it is pretty easy to make it (at least the Oly system) work so every lens would be a tilt-shift lens too, I am surprised it has not been done yet - but just a firmware update away. With sensors having as high resolution as they do, the old 1/EFL rule is way outdated and not having IS does not make sense at practically any shutter speed. ILS might have some sense for DSLRs (viewfinder stabilization), but not at all for mirrorless.
