People who have a lot of money invested in lenses don't make up most of the market and that's just as likely to be true for Sony(via Minolta) and Pentax.

I'd argue that its infact these brands that depend far more on lens inertia as Canon and Nikon have captured almost all of the market for new users, without it Sony would have a tiny market share and Pentax would be out of business.
