US FAA to allow use of "electronic devices" throughout passenger flights

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/01/business/passengers-to-be-free-to-use-electronics-on-flights-faa-says.html

Cameras or camcorders, being "electronic devices" have to date been required to be turned off during the landing and take-off periods, which are often the only time there is only scenery or citiscapes of photographic interest anyway.  Shots at 30,000 feet are pretty similar, although some stories allege strange things appear on the wings at 20,000'.

Cell phones will remain prohibited, though.  Whether this is to protect the on-board phone service sales, or to prevent use to detonate devices in the hold, the rule might not impede a malefactor.

No fun sitting through a 4 hour flight overhearing others shouting into phones anyway.
