Precise registration isn't essential.  But one approach is to wet and dry the paper one time before coating with any emulsion.  This will "work out" the majority of dimensional change. It's what is done for conventional printmaking (intaglio, etc.) where the piece will go through the press more than once.  I've also printed pigment ink jet on art paper, then intaglio on top of that. Still looking for an ink jet media that has some viscosity but will work in our conventional ink jet printers.
