Now I see what you mean. It is like film alignment in the old days. Very important. But adapters are mostly turned on rotating machinery and should thereby be symmetric. Except for the fixing plates that are screwed on it.

I have a home made adapter for a non-standard, russian Industar m69. It is screwed together of two parts, and I see that the loose thread means something for right and left side of the image. I am thinking of getting some tubes to tighten it on in order to fix the plane better.
