This is not really a whole new product for Sony but an enhancement of their already excellent NEX and RX1 products.

And Sony has already announced a pretty large number of FE lenses.

Five lenses is "pretty large" selection? They are starting with a minimalist approach much as they did when they took over the Alpha mount from Konica-Minolta, relying in part on their adapters to make up gor the shortage of "native" lenses. Not a bad approach, and in reality the 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 Zeiss lenses will cover about 80% of what most photographers need.

The cameras are tempting alternatives to the EM1 for the sensors. However my own criteria involve more than just sensor size, so I will wait and see how the A mirrorless series develops.
If, in my lifetime, I will have produced just one image that makes a real difference in the life of another, I will have achieved my highest goal as a photographer.

Considering that you can only shoot with one lens on the camera at a time, five lenses is four more than you really need.
