How to Achieve Circle of Light on Floor (aka interrogation lighting)

I'm planning out a shoot where several people will sit/kneel/stand around a chair. I want my primary light to come from overhead creating a circle of light on the floor around my subjects as in this photo:

I'll be renting a 850sqft studio with 15' ceilings that provides access to several studio strobes on boom stands, with reflectors and gridspots & softboxes. My own gear includes a Canon 580EX flash, snoot, umbrella and a 43" multi-disc reflector. I'm willing to rent anything else I need.

What options do I have to achieve the lighting shown in this photo?

While I do want the dramatic/harsh shadows this overhead light will bring, I'd also appreciate any suggestions for small amounts of fill light that doesn't compromise this dramatic circle of light.
