"Work well" does not mean there won't be compromises. The a33/37/55/57/58/65/77 do not work as well as the a580 for high ISO.

But SLTs have better and continuous AF system than A580, which was the point of SLTs. That A580 has a slight edge on same sensor than A55 is an effect that is not as important as a more effective AF system (and also thru LCD). And even THAT is something that is being addressed.

So has shown a perfect willingness to step back in some areas, while moving forward in others.

So, if the mirrorless AF system matches SLT AF performance, AND with elimination of mirror, improves high ISO performance, what exactly is it that you believe would be a step back?
