That's because a mirror costs, along with the separate PDAF sensor.

The mirror is a workable but imperfect solution to the problem of providing a light path to the film plane and the TTL VF (and later also the PDAF sensors when AF arrived).

With a digital sensor providing full time EVF and performant AF facilities the mirror is obsolete.
