E-M1 ETTR Expose to the right question
Oct 9, 2013

The concept of ETTR is new to me because I always need to underexpose my FZ200 shots to keep highlights from clipping.

As I understand the concept you change the exposure until just before the highlights clip and then you balance it out while post processing. I have experimented with doing this with my E-M1 and found that on fairly ordinary shots I have to +3 the exposure to achieve this. That strikes me as quite an extreme adjustment for a not very extraordinary shot.

Is it normal to have to make extreme exposure adjustment to ETTR?
