Mine for help or play

I need some help, if its even possible. I took this photo today, that I think there might be some potential for, but after playing with it I am not so sure. Seems to have a fairly high DR and the snow adds to my white balance problems. Is there anything that can be done to save it, or is it a lost cause. This is the Smith Mine in Bear Creek, Montana, in 1943 a large explosion killed 74 miners and 1 rescue warrior. I work in a mine myself and the place just kind of send chills down my back.
