Why do so few cameras offer a double exposure feature or mode?

It might be 'nice' in camera, but software is better because you have complete control over it. Same reason I prefer HDR during post-processing rather than in-camera.

I agree, no doubt editing software can do it better but it also does all the scene modes and features of my cheap little camera better but my cheap little camera still offers tons of features ike HDR and panorama and sepia modes and such.  I just think it would be fun to play with and not hard to implement. Thanks for the reply.
