Panasonic 12-35mm is not splash proof
Sep 29, 2013

My panasonic 12-35 and Em-5 got drenched in a thunderstorm. I used to have the Olympus 12-50 and it handled thunderstorms, splashes on the beaches without any problems. Stupid me, thinking that Panasonic would have the same splash proof, didn't try to put a plastic bag over it. When I got home, there was moisture inside the lens. The camera came away fine.

I contacted Panasonic and they said its not under warranty because they consider it abuse. I personally don't think of it as abuse. Has anyone have similar experience?

I am a bit disappointed with both the lens and Panasonic's respond. I like the size of the 12-35, but will have to lean towards getting the 12-40 as I can't be worry that splash proof is not really splash proof.
