I'm coming late to the party, having just discovered the Coolpix 7700, alas, just as Nikon is ready to push it's replacement the 7800.

For the 7700 users, will you upgrade? If you were just now getting the 7700, could you justify spending the extra $200-$250 for the upgraded model?

Please share your thoughts.

thanks!

For my use, addition of EVF is not a sufficient improvement to replace my P7700 (which I have had since October 2012) with P7800. For me, the articulated display is far far more important than a viewfinder in this type of "universal" P&S camera. That's why I wouldn't even consider a G15 or G16, even though all my previous P&S cameras were Canons (with articulated LCDs).

However, if my P7700 broke down today, I would most likely get a P7800 as a replacement, but only after the price has settled down. BTW, I am generally very satisfied with my P7700 and my D5000 has seen much less use since I got the P7k7.

Regards, T.
