Nikon and Canon are the Romans compared to the Greeks (Panasonic and Olympus)..... and the only reason they have a larger market share right now is because photographers from the film era are still alive.

Most of the innovative features were first developed by Olympus, and later copied by others (effective sensor cleaning, live view, etc.)  Pixel mapping and direct live histogram have yet to be copied and no one who is serious about photography should purchase a camera that does not have these features
