With electronics miniaturization and recent battery technology they could easily reduce the size of a full frame DSLR body to the size of a Nikon FM3a or Olympus OM series - and still keep the mirror and pentaprism.

If you want a full frame sensor, those cameras weren't exactly big and cumbersome
