Do I Need To Upgrade My Video Card??
Sep 25, 2013

Hi everyone!  A friend of mine who is a computer geek who deals A LOT with PC components, told me that for photography, I don't have to get an external video card because for what i do, it won'timprove my current video output.  He said that what i already have should be perfectly fine.  "I believe" him, but what is your opinion on this.  If the FACT is different than from what i have been told i would like to know the actual truth

I just upgraded my monitor to a new one, calibrated it and honestly, what (I am looking at) looks just wonderful, but then again, i don't know if there would be a difference if i buy a $100+ external video card.

I am currently getting ON-BOARD video from my motherboard.  I have a pretty decent Dell PC, with 6GB of RAM, i3 processor.  Again, my friend says that i won't see a difference if i spend more money on an external card.

Also, what about SPEED??  If i get an external video card, would my editing be "faster" when i am running Lightroom or anything else??  Just curious.

Looking forward in hearing your input on this.
