I think the fake shutter sound has everything to do with the miniscule cost savings that comes from not having a physical front curtain for the shutter. Leave it to Sony though to take a premium feature (electronic first curtain shutter) and turn it into a cost cutting component, and then adding back a fake sound without explanation to make you think you didn't get the premium feature.
