EM-1 Price variation around the world

Hi,

I have just been looking at the price of the EM-1 in the UK and comparing it to the price in the USA. Now, if I lived in the US I would pay the equivalent of £875 for the body only whereas in the UK I have to pay a whopping £1,300.

Even if I purchase from B&H Photo in the US and pay all the relevant taxes and duties I still save over £180 over the UK’s price. I cannot see why there is any difference (other than VAT) in the prices. It cannot be exchange rates differences as companies can choose to trade in any currency they see fit.

It would be interesting to see if other European countries suffer the same variance in pricing and should we all buy from the US to register our disapproval?

Are Olympus UK/ Europe just being greedy or is there a more valid reason????

Best regards,

Howard
