Try the 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens. It uses the STM autofocus.
If you want a faster prime, maybe go with the 35mm f/2. For $100, it's hard to go wrong with the 50mm f/1.8. For something a little longer (for portraits), try the 85mm f/1.8 or 100mm f/2. All great lenses. Of course, there are L primes, too; many good options. The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 would probably be great on an SL1 as a "normal" prime, although it's a big lens (almost twice the weight of the SL1 - 13 oz vs 24 oz).
