Of course the 20mp Sony is going to resolve more than the 10mp XZ-1 but the latter is really a lot sharper than this with raw conversion...

And a few from the XZ-2, 12mp on the same lens

I agree, The XZ-1 is very, very sharp. The fact that it can even come close to the RX100 is simply amazing. The XZ-1 color renditions and tone are also very pleasant.

Here are two more comparison shots I took just today.

Once again to clarify. I am not promoting the RX100! I am praising the XZ-1.

XZ-1 ISO100 f5.0 1/1000 sec 112mm equiv.

RX100 ISO100 f5.6 1/500 sec 100mm equiv.

When I first examined these two shots, I was quite surprised at how close they were in quality. In fact, I would say I prefer the XZ-1 shot. Things would look differently of course, once the ISO started increasing. That is where the RX100 would trounce the XZ-1. But all-in-all, quite a good performance from the Oly.

I'm sure this has all been hashed out before but, it never hurts to look at pictures, does it?
